the process
Planning a proposal can feel like a lot, but you don’t have to figure out the photography side on your own. Once you’re booked, I’ll be here to share recommendations and help you feel confident going into the big moment.
1. BOOK YOUR SESSION
Reply to my email with your collection choice and any decor or add-ons you’d like. Once booked, you’ll receive your contract and invoice. After those are completed, we’ll plan the details closer to your session and I’ll send your questionnaire, location guide, and What to Wear Guide.
2. SHARE YOUR VISION
Tell me your plan and cover story in the questionnaire! Whether it’s a sunrise picnic, couples’ photos, a sunset walk, or something completely different, make it feel natural to your partner. You know them best, and I’m here to help with the photography side.
3. TALK DETAILS
As we get closer, we’ll make sure we’re on the same page about the location, timing, proposal moment, and anything I need to know to photograph it seamlessly.
4. PROPOSAL DAY
The big day is here! Plan a little extra time for traffic, parking, getting ready, and anything unexpected. Since your session is planned around the best natural light, arriving on time helps us make the most of it. I’ll be there early and ready. You focus on the moment, and I’ll focus on capturing it.
5. CELEBRATE & CAPTURE
After the proposal, we’ll take some time for portraits. Feel free to send me poses or Pinterest inspiration so I can understand the images you’d love to have.
6. GALLERY DELIVERY
Your gallery will be delivered within 3–5 weeks. There’s no need to check in for updates. I’ll send it your way as soon as it’s ready! I can’t wait for you to see it.
FAQ
I found another photographer who is cheaper. Why should I book with you?
I completely understand that photographers have different price points. Photography is what I do for a living, and I’ve invested years into learning the craft, getting a degree, licenses, building my business, and creating a personalized experience for my clients. You’re investing not just in photos, but in my expertise, artistic eye, and the care that goes into your experience from start to finish. I also offer payment plans to make booking a little easier.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept Bank Transfer, this method is handled through a secure, trusted platform to ensure your information and transaction are safe.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes ! Packages are split into 2 payments (50% to book, 50% due 3 days before). Packages $900+ can be split into 3 payments with the final balance due 3 days before.
Is a retainer required?
Yes. A non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date and time. The remaining balance is due 3 days before the session date.
How do we choose the location?
I recommend locations based on your style, the type of session, lighting, and accessibility. After your booking is secured, you’ll receive full guidance to help choose the best location for your session.
Do you travel to other islands?
Yes! I’m based on Oahu but regularly travel to other Hawaiian islands for sessions. Travel fees may apply depending on the location. Please check the Extras & Add-ons for pricing and more information.
What happens if the weather is bad?
I closely track the weather and stay in communication with you leading up to your session. If conditions are unsafe or not ideal, we can reschedule or switch locations
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that plans can change! I’m happy to work with you whenever possible and accommodate rescheduling when I can. Cancellations made within 48 hours or no-shows may forfeit payments, while cancellations with proper notice can typically be applied as a credit toward a future session.
should i text or email for communication ?
Email is always the best way to reach me. It makes it much easier for me to send links, files, and schedule calls if needed, and it’s where I check messages most often during my business hours (10am-4pm HST). Please also be sure to check your spam folder just in case my emails land there.
Can I reschedule my session?
Yes. Rescheduling is permitted with at least 3 days’ notice. The session must be rescheduled within 2 weeks of the original date unless otherwise agreed. A $50 rescheduling fee may apply.
What happens if I’m late?
Your session will still end at the scheduled time, so please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early. Since sessions are scheduled around the best natural light, arriving late may mean missing some of that ideal lighting. Please allow extra time for traffic, parking, getting ready, and any unexpected delays!
I don’t know what to wear. Can you help?
Absolutely! Choosing outfits can feel overwhelming, and I’m happy to help. I’ll provide a What to Wear Guide with tips on colors, styles, and what photographs well. If you’re still unsure, feel free to send me a few options, and I’ll be happy to help you choose!
I’m not comfortable in front of the camera. will you guide us?
Absolutely. I’m here to help you look great and feel comfortable, and I’ll guide you with natural direction based on what feels comfortable for you.
I’ve never done a professional photo session before. What should I expect?
That’s completely normal, especially if this is your first professional session. Many clients feel excited and a little nervous, and I understand that it can lead to lots of questions or messages. Please know that I do this every day and truly know what I’m doing. I’ll guide you through the entire process, from planning to posing, and my goal is to make you feel comfortable and taken care of. Your trust is essential, and when you allow yourself to relax and trust the process, that’s when the most beautiful, natural images happen.
do you deliver raw / unedited images ?
I do not deliver RAW or unedited images. Editing is a big part of my creative process and what gives their signature look and feel. Each image is carefully selected and artistically edited to ensure the highest quality and consistency with my work.
I can’t wait to see my photos! When will I receive them?
Your gallery will be delivered within the turnaround time outlined in your contract. You don’t need to check in for progress updates. I’ll email you as soon as your gallery is ready.
